Trail Conditions — What to Expect on the Summit Rinjani Program

The Summit Rinjani program 3D2N trek offers a diverse mix of landscapes and trail conditions that will challenge and reward trekkers:

  1. Day 1:
Mostly dry savanna trails and open grassy plains. Gradual ascent at first, turning steeper after Pos 3 with volcanic sand and loose rocks towards Sembalun Crater Rim.
  2. Summit Day (Day 2):
The most challenging section. Extremely steep volcanic scree (loose gravel and sand) makes the summit push tough and slippery — requiring stamina and mental focus. Trekking poles and good shoes are essential.
  3. Descent to Lake:
Steep rocky path down from the crater rim to Segara Anak Lake. The trail is dusty, uneven, and can be slippery when dry.
  4. Day 3 (Exit via Senaru):
Dense tropical rainforest trail. Mostly shaded, soft ground, but long, continuous descent (~2,000 m drop) can be hard on knees. Expect roots, rocks, and possible muddy sections in the rainy season.

Planting trees helps restore forest ecosystems, improves soil stability, and reduces the risk of forest fires and erosion in vulnerable mountain areas. Every tree planted today plays a role in protecting water sources and biodiversity for future generations.

Rinjani Volcano Escape is not just a name — it reflects our long-term commitment to responsible trekking. Through optional tree planting and regular mountain clean-up programs, we ensure that every trek gives back to the environment and local communities.
